Tennova Healthcare - Jefferson Memorial Hospital Delivering Quality Care and More to Jefferson County: Total Community Benefit Exceeded $67 Million in 2024

Jefferson City, TN (April 7th, 2025) – Tennova Healthcare, Jefferson Memorial Hospital provided care to thousands of area residents in 2024, with 112,000 patient encounters across its network of physician clinics and other outpatient sites of care. In addition to delivering safe, quality, compassionate healthcare, the health system is helping those in need, supporting charitable organizations and contributing to the area economy. In its most recent Community Benefit Report, Jefferson Memorial Hospital’s impact totaled more than $67 million in 2024.

Tennova Healthcare - Jefferson Memorial Hospital’s emergency room provides lifesaving, medically necessary care at more than 21,000 patient encounters each year, treating all patients regardless of their ability to pay. In 2024, Tennova Healthcare - Jefferson Memorial Hospital provided nearly $36 million in charity and uncompensated care and provided resources to help patients in need secure medications and medical support devices.
The health system and its employees also support local organizations that make a difference, especially those addressing social determinants of health. Through service projects such as the annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive for Appalachian Ministries and contributions to community and charitable organizations such as our local EMS and Fire Departments and the American Strides for Breast Cancer campaigns means that the hospital gives back to the community throughout the year.
To enhance patient care and expand healthcare access, Tennova Healthcare - Jefferson Memorial Hospital is investing in medical services, facilities and technologies. Capital projects in 2024 totaled approximately $1.05 million last year and included Emergency Room updates, a new 128 Splice CT Scanner, updates to the central sterile surgery program, and advancements in technology to perform vascular clot extractions.
The hospital also took steps to strengthen general surgery services through the recruitment of Evan Foulke, M.D. and Mariah Beasley, M.D. General surgery providers who are performing advanced procedures/using new technologies in areas such as bariatric care, helping patients with their weight loss journey.

Tennova Healthcare - Jefferson Memorial is one of the community’s larger employers with a payroll of more than $27 million. Support for the future healthcare workforce includes training the next generation of medical professionals and our affiliation with Carson Newman University Nursing School and Walters State Foundation Nursing School. In addition to supporting the local economy through job creation, Tennova Healthcare - Jefferson Memorial Hospital paid more than $3.2 million in taxes in 2024, monies that support local infrastructure and civic resources.
