Jefferson City, TN (April 18, 2023) - The skilled and compassionate hands of physicians, nurses and other team members of Jefferson Memorial Hospital support the health and well-being of patients whenever needed. Beyond providing clinical care, Jefferson Memorial Hospital is a cornerstone of our community and a major contributor to the economic health of Jefferson County as a major employer and tax-payer and through the resources it uses to expand and enhance the medical services available close to home. The overall impact is significant and totaled more than $73.5 million in 2022.
Care was provided at more than 120,300 patient encounters, including more than 25,700 emergency department visits, more than 2,300 inpatient admissions and more than 6,300 surgeries. Over 86,000 patients received care across the service area, including Tennova Primary Care, Morristown and Jefferson City and the multi-specialty medical suite located on the Tennova - Healthcare Jefferson Memorial campus.
“We provide quality care for patients in our community who have a broad range of medical needs,” said Ben Ridder, CEO of Tennova Healthcare - Jefferson. “It is a privilege to be of service and make a difference every day.”
Jefferson Memorial Hospital applies its resources to medical services, facilities and technologies that are important to patients. Capital improvements totaling more than $2.2 million were made in 2022 to grow access to services, including projects such as the Volunteer Surgery Center for convenient outpatient surgeries and the addition of dialysis services.
Jefferson Memorial Hospital also gives back to the broader Jefferson County areas by providing over $31.6 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable. And the payment of $2.2 million in property, sales and GRT taxes helps support civic resources and services.
The hospital’s payroll of more than $25.6 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services. Last year the hospital added enhanced benefits to help team members achieve their personal and professional goals, including assistance with student loan repayments, reimbursement of licensure and certification expenses, as well as tuition reimbursement.
Local community organizations such as Isaiah 117 House, Senior Center, Rhythm on the River, and Boys & Girls Club benefit from the hospital’s financial contributions and area youth learn at education experiences such as the Jefferson City fire department’s Kid’s Fire Camp, which focuses on fire prevention, first aid, CPR, safety and teamwork activities.
CEO Ridder continues, “We are fortunate to be part of this community and we are committed to doing all we can to provide excellent healthcare services for Jefferson County.”
